About Us
Made for the man who notices the difference.
Heavyweight essentials, built to outlast the trend cycle. Shipping from Mysore, Karnataka.
Shumphy started with a frustration most men share but rarely say out loud: the gap between fast-fashion tees that fall apart after ten washes, and imported "premium" labels priced like they're spun from gold.
We set out to close that gap.
Every Shumphy tee is cut from heavyweight cotton — 220 to 240 GSM — the kind of fabric that holds its shape through years of wear. We obsess over the details most brands skip: reinforced shoulder seams, ribbed collars that don't sag, side seams that sit straight after washing.
Our polos use 220 GSM piqué knit, the same construction used by the heritage houses, made here in India with cotton sourced from Indian mills.
Shumphy is for the man who'd rather own five shirts he loves than fifty he tolerates. Who reaches for the same tee on Saturday morning and Tuesday evening because it always works. Who understands that real style is quiet.
We're a small team, shipping from Mysore, Karnataka. Every order is checked by hand before it leaves. If something isn't right, write to us — we'll make it right.
How it
all began.
It started, like most honest things do, with a small irritation that refused to go away.
I kept buying tees. Some cheap, some expensive. The cheap ones would lose their shape by the third wash — shoulders drooping, collar gone soft and wide, the fabric somehow thinner than the day I bought it. The expensive ones were imported, marked up for the label, and felt like I was paying for someone else's brand story, not the cloth itself.
There had to be something in between. I just couldn't find it.
I started looking into fabric. Properly. Not the GSM numbers brands throw around in marketing copy, but what actually makes a tee hold its structure after a year of washing. What makes a collar stay ribbed and firm. What makes a side seam not twist.
The answers weren't complicated. Heavyweight cotton. Proper construction. No shortcuts on the seams. The knowledge existed. The mills existed — right here in India. What didn't exist was someone doing it without the import markup, without the hype cycle, without the logo doing most of the work.
I thought: if I can't find this brand, maybe I'm supposed to build it.
Shumphy was put together in Mysore — quietly, with a small team, spending more time than we probably should have on collar construction and seam placement. We sampled. We washed things twenty times and checked what held and what didn't.
There was no big launch moment. No funding round. Just a conviction that men deserved better basics — and a willingness to make them, here, from Indian cotton, at a price that didn't require an excuse.
The name Shumphy doesn't translate to anything. It doesn't need to. It's ours. Built in Karnataka, reaching out to every man who's ever pulled on a tee and felt — finally — like it was made for him.
